This tutorial will help you make a staff app. This is the unofficial staff manual for AYS. This guide is not only for AYS applications but also for other server programs.

Staff Positions

These are the positions that you would find in an average server. Other roles and positions may be available for servers. Some applications may ask for information such as "What position are u applying for?".

- Helper - Moderator Administrator - Manager (Management) Common Application Questions and Tips

These types of questions are common to all applications. Be sure that when you're answering these questions, you are answering them understandable and not messy.

NOTE: To be a server, you must be at least 13-14 years old. This guide is intended for everyone.

What is your experience with moderation: This question means, do you have any past experience with being on the staff team on other servers. On this question (if you do have experience) What kind of experience do you have and what kind of server was it; was it a Minecraft Server, a Discord server? While it doesn't matter, telling them is important and something you should include when applying. Why do you think you would be fit for this position: What they are asking you is that why might you be qualified for the position you are applying for. Can you manage situations professionally and are you able to maintain a sense of moderation? Do you have experience working with the same role you are applying for? Let them know the detail. Why would you want to be a staff person on [server]: This is a simple question, but here are some tips to help you answer it. You can tell them all you know about moderation, but they want more detail. Even if you are not a well-experienced staff member, try to give them as much information as possible. Do you prefer working with a team or just yourself? The greater your chances of acceptance, the more detailed you can be. Certain Questions: Application thoughts

Here are some questions you may or may not ask yourself: "Why are they asking me this", what should I say? Do I lie? DISCORD SERVERS Here are some reasons why they ask the following and what to do when witnessing these questions.

Why are they asking about my age? Because members of their server are looking to hire staff, they expect applicants to be mature. They won't look at you and try to find your age. They are only checking to make sure you are the right age. Why are they asking for my email address? This is a common question that people might ask, but it is not something they are used to asking. Your email address is required by some servers. This is mostly found in Administrator / Management applications. This is so that they can communicate with you not only on discord/Teamspeak/skype but through email. I'm required to have a microphone by some servers. Is that normal? Yes, microphones are required by some applications. This is so the application can communicate more easily during interviews or other staff meetings. Although some servers don't require this, it is a good idea to have a microphone in case you need to communicate via voice. Do's & Dont's when creating an Application

There are many things that you should not include or do in your application. Here are some things you should NOT include in your application.

Never say "Because of my excellence" or "Because of my staff skills". They want to know the reasons why you would be a good role-model/staff member. Make sure you are aware of your grammar. While it isn't a problem to have a few spelling and grammar mistakes in your application, it is important that you use good grammar throughout your application. They are not going to examine your application to see if it has good grammar and spelling. Instead, they will be looking at it as though you are professional and are aware of grammar. Always include detail in your application: This is one of the most important Do's for your application. You should ALWAYS have detail in the important parts of the application; such as "Why do you think you should be a staff member" or "Do you have past experience with moderation, if so, please list them". They want to see the effort and detail you put into your application. Show them that you are really determined to be a staff member on the server by providing them the best detail as possible. Do not lie on your application. Either way, if your making an application or not, lying is not okay. Be honest in your application. For example, if someone asks you about your birthday month/year please give them your birth month/year so that they can estimate your age. You will be caught if you lie if you answer this question. Your application should be taken slowly. Don't rush. Rushing can cause spelling / grammar errors without you even knowing. And when you're taking your time, you are more focused and determined on the application. Rushing means that you want them to read your application quickly so I can be accepted. Don't hurry and rush your application. It might not be accepted first. Thank you for reading this guide! This guide could be edited, so keep it handy!
