The game allows you the possibility to create your own server. Everyone on your local network can connect to it. While everything is fairly straightforward, there are many limitations. In this article, we will go over each one in detail. Select the configuration type that you want and follow the steps.

Server configuration when you are on the same Wi-Fi or Ethernet network as another player

This setting will work if multiple PCs are within close proximity to each other and are connected by cable to the same Wi Fi or LAN network.

Windows: On the PC where the server is to be started, open the Start menu and enter cmd in the search to open this program:

In the opened window, type ipconfig and press enter. Look for your local IP. It starts with 192.168.*. *, for instance, the IP address 192.168.1.47. ), and copy it.

MacOS: To locate the local IP, open Terminal (you can search for it in the Mac search), then type ifconfig * to copy it. minecraft servers

Go to your world, and click on the Pause menu (Esc), to open to LAN. The chat will display a message about the successful opening of the server, as well as the server port, 31790 in the example (you will have another).

Open the version with the Til icon on another PC. (also, the game version must be the same on both PCs). Next, go to Multiplayer and then click Direct connect.

Now enter the IP address + port that we got earlier, 192.168.1.47:31790 in the example. If everything is okay, the connection should be established. You can now play on this server with a friend.

Configuration of the Server when Playing over the Internet With Another Player Using Hamachi

If you cannot physically be with another player on a network, or because you live far apart from one another, you can create your own network using Hamachi.

Make sure you have both the PCs and the Hamachi account created. Then, download the program by clicking the Download button in the middle.

Install the program and authorize under the created data. Now, go to Hamachi and click on "Create new network". Enter any network name or password. The new network will appear in this window.

Open TLauncher and choose the version with a TL icon. Then, run the game. It is better to log in to your TLauncher.org account. You will not be able connect to the server if you choose the version without the TL icon.

Go to your world and in the Pause menu (Esc) click Open to LAN. The chat will display a message about the successful opening of the server, as well as the server port, 60000 in the example (you will have another).

Click on "Connect To An Existing Network" from another computer. Enter the network name and password you created earlier. If the connection succeeds, your friend's computer will be visible in Hamachi.

Next, you will need to open the version with a TL icon on another Windows PC. (Also, the version of your game must be identical on both PCs). Go to Multiplayer, then click Direct connect.

Enter Hamachi's address in the IP field (of your PC on which the server is open) + port we received earlier, 25.60.187.78.60000 in this example. If everything is fine, the connection will be established. Now you can play on the server together with a friend.

Setting up a Local Minecraft Server with Mods

Once you have setup the server to play on a WiFi (LAN), or Hamachi network, you can install mods to play with your friends. It's very easy.

Install the exact same mods on all clients. Everything should be identical. The Forge version should also be the same. For example, ForgeOptiFine (1.12.2). Remember that the version should be with the TL icon!

Now create and connect to the server according to the same instructions above, depending on your network. Done, you can play Minecraft with mods!

Possible Problems and Solutions

- An error message indicating "Invalid Session", or "Check Username" when connecting to the server appears.

Solution: The version must be run with the TL icon. If you are running exactly this one, make sure that the "Account Management" ->"Use TLauncher Skins" checkbox is enabled (in Launcher).

- When connecting to the server "Io.netty.channel.AbstractChannel$AnnotatedConnectException: Connection time out: no further information" error appears.

Solution: The game was unable to find information about such servers, so the network configuration is incorrect. Try to disable anti-virus and firewall on the host computer or configure it correctly.

- The server disconnects the connection immediately after it connects to the server. This is because chunk loading is currently in progress.

Solution: The network configuration appears to be correct, but the firewall or antivirus is preventing the connection from working. Configure them correctly or disable them.
