Minecraft Pocket Edition is fun enough by itself, but it's even more fun when you add friends. Here's how.

Multi-playing is not possible without the latest version of the game (0.12.1). It costs $6.99 USD.

Locally playing Minecraft Pocket Edition

Playing locally means that you and your friends (up to five players) can play within the same world-but only when you're all connected to the same Wi-Fi connection. Within your game settings, toggle the "Local Server Multiplayer" switch to on.

First, choose which world you want to play and then load the game on that person’s device. This device will now act as the host.

For your friends to join, they must tap "play" and select the new world (highlighted in blue) that's appeared at the top of their list. Minecraft blog

That's it; they're in! Get ready to dig, create and explore or chase creepers-whatever it is that you are into.

Connect to Minecraft: Pocket Edition gaming servers

Servers are a great option if you want to play with multiple players on different Wi-Fi connections.

Servers are often online worlds that players have created and have opened to others.

While most servers require registration, a few servers are open to all. To find a server, try MinecraftPocket-Servers or Minecraft Pocket Edition Servers and browse for a world that you'd like to join.
