The best robot vacuums that self-empty have a base which holds the equivalent of a month's worth of debris and automatically empty it. It can create a detailed home map, allowing you mark rooms and define "no go" zones.

It also has superior obstacle avoidance capabilities, so that it can stay away from power cords and rogue sock.

iRobot Roomba s9+

This is a top model from iRobot and performs well. It maneuvers easily across a variety of surfaces and is highly effective at sucking up dirt, dust and other debris. It is also extremely well-constructed and looks fantastic too.

The S9 is the most recent model of iRobot's premium S Series line of robot vacuums. As such, it boasts many additional features that differentiate it from other models. For example, the iRobot app uses the camera in this unit to create an interactive map of your home, which helps it navigate and clean effectively.

It can also automatically return to the place where it left off if its battery runs low during the cleaning process which means you don't have to waste time re-cleaning the same spots. You can start and stop cleaning by a voice command, or by using the iRobot App. This smart vacuum is able to clean in the dark!

Carpet Boost is another great feature. It gives the S9 more suction power when it comes in contact with carpeting, meaning it will pick up more dirt. It also features an elongated front design that is more close to corners and walls as opposed to the earlier round designs. But, be aware that this model isn't able to work well with shag or high-pile carpeting.

In our tests, we found that the iRobot S9+ cleans thoroughly and efficiently on a variety of floor surfaces, from medium-pile to hard carpets and rug. It also performed well on tiles, vinyl, and laminate flooring. It did a great job of navigating around furniture and other objects, but it had issues with stairs where it might accidentally hit bookcases.

The S9's ability to return to its base and empty its dust bin after it is full was a great feature. It reduced the necessity for manual maintenance. The dust bin should last for about 30 loads or a month and a half. You'll need to replace the filter on a regular basis (as suggested by iRobot). The iRobot S9+ is not extremely loud when it's operating which makes it a great option for families with children or pets.

It's also simple to set it up, but I would recommend fully charging the X8 Hybrid prior to running it for the first time. Install the Eufy Home application and follow the instructions to connect it to your WiFi network. The app will assist you create an outline of your home. You can name rooms and divide large spaces into sub-rooms (good for open plan living) and guide the X8 Hybrid to specific areas that need cleaning at the time of. Many other robots offer similar mapping and scanning functions, but Eufy's app feels more refined and intuitive than other models.

The X8 Hybrid has a great feature: you can activate the mop or vacuum cleaner by voice thanks to the integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. This is a nice feature that makes the robot more hands-free. And it works well in our test house.

Like many robotic vacuums, the X8 Hybrid has some issues with floors that are bare. It may miss pet hair and small objects, and is more likely to hit objects - like its own charger on the charging base. It is also not as quiet, and the whirring sound could be distracting as with other models.

Roborock V3S pro

The robot doesn't have as many features as some of the more expensive models we evaluated but it does come with the essentials. It has a huge enough dust bin that can hold plenty of dirt until it's empty and its mop and vacuum system is great for carpets that are hard and low-pile. vacuum bot 's also extremely quiet, and we were able to watch television while it was cleaning without feeling like it was blasting us with the sound.

Our test subjects were extremely impressed by how simple the machine was to use and set up. They also loved the ability to clean all the messes from their flooring. It also did a good job of picking up pet hair and messes from carpeting, although it was not as effective in tackling stubborn stuck-on stains. They found the app easy to use and intuitive, and were able to program the vacuum to be cleaned on a regular basis to reduce the amount they had to manually do. The one downside is that it doesn't include any mapping technology or object avoidance technology, so you can't direct it to specific rooms or follow virtual boundaries (though magnetic boundary strips can be used).

Another model from iRobot's affordable line, the V3S Pro has some impressive features for the price. It topped all other robotic vacuums in our tests when it comes to the ability to avoid obstacles and map them, and is the ideal budget option for those who are looking for a cleaner self-emptying robotic vacuum that can take care of pet hair and messes both on carpets with low pile and hardwood floors. It's also extremely quiet and has a huge dust bin which can hold a lot of dust before it's time to empty it.

Although the V3S Pro didn't earn a spot in any of our top choices compilations from reliable sources that conduct hands-on testing, it still was highly praised by reviewers from Modern Castle, Smart Robot Reviews and The Ambient. They appreciated the ease of setup and use, but they also noted that its battery life is very short and it was unable to stay clear of some of the most stubborn messes we put it through.

Roborock Q Revo

The Q Revo is an entry-level robot vacuum and mop that provides a wide range of features for a low price. You'll get a lot of the features found on high-end models, including intelligent navigation and mapping, all without spending top dollar. You can use voice commands using Alexa, Google Assistant or Apple Siri shortcuts for custom automations, as well as to begin your cleaning process when you're away.

Roborock has spent time in the development of this clever cleaner. The result is that the product is incredibly well-built and feels like it was built with top materials. Its base is strong and solid, and has an integrated charging port for the battery. On the top, you'll find a dock for the clean water tank as well as dirty water bins. Under them, you'll discover an enclosure that houses the vacuum bag that is sealed.

Once you pair your device to the app, you'll see the map in 3D or 2D of your home. It will show the exact location where your robot is situated and the area it's cleaning. You can also build virtual barriers to keep your robot from certain areas or only clean certain types of flooring. It's also able of adjusting its power settings according to the kind of floor being cleaned, and choosing the most efficient method of cleaning.

Contrary to other robot vacuums, the Q Revo can lift both mops as it vacuums to prevent staining your carpet fibres. It's one of the few vacuums that can do this.

When mopping, the Q Revo's 5500Pa suction capabilities are sufficient to remove dust particles or pet hair strands and other particles. And the all-rubber brush is perfect for dissolving hair from animals and humans and also adapting to uneven surfaces.

Its only drawback is that it can take some time to fill and empty water tanks, both clean and dirty. Luckily, you can reduce the frequency of this by utilizing the auto-empty feature, which will automatically empty the bin after a few days. There is no automatic reminder to check the level of water at the dock.
